University of Wrocław Competitive AI Programming Team (UWR-CAT) is an informal group of teachers, students, and alumni of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wrocław, Poland, started in 2020 by Dr Jakub Kowalski. We are interested in competitive programming, artificial intelligence, adversarial search, and various aspects of game AI. We participate in various competitions focusing on bot programming and optimization problems, such as CodinGame and Topcoder.

Notable achievements of the team:

• Winning 9 out of 11 bot programming contests in the school category at CodinGame. In the two competitions we didn't win, we took second place.
• Winning all 3 optimization contests in the school category at CodinGame.
• Winning 3 out of 4 puzzle/coding escape contests in the school category at CodinGame.
• Marek Szykuła won 4 CodinGame contests.
• Organizing workshop related to CodinGame bot programming tournaments at Institute of Computer Science, UWr (in Polish).

News

• Jakub Kowalski is a problem setter for the Topcoder Marathon Match 162, the next round of the Marathon Match Tournament 2025. The competition will take place on Jun 18 - 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM CEST.
• UWR-CAT participates in the Topcoder Marathon Match Tournament 2025. Given the current standings, two of our representatives, Szymon Mikler and Marcin Wróbel, have almost certain advancement to the finals.
